General information for:

Creekside Crossing Condominiums

The Community of Pelican Landing

The City of Bonita Springs

The SW coast of Florida

Creekside Crossing Condominiums consists of 114 units built in the mid 90s by Centex Corp. They range in size from 1640 sq ft to 1960 sq ft and are arranged as either 4 or 6 single story units in two story buildings each unit with a single garage. The complex is arranged around a recreation complex consisting of two large pools, a fountain/pond/waterfall  feature, a hot tub, restroom and changing facilities and a club house. It is bordered by Pelican Creek to the west and the Pelican Nest golf course to the east and south.

While about 10% of our residents live here full time most are “snow birds” who migrate north for the summer. While we are not an age restricted community many of us are retired. The areas of the country most represented by our population are the mid west and the Philadelphia-Jersey shore region but virtually all other areas of the country (as well as a few other countries) are included as well.

While most everyone takes advantage of the many recreational facilities within Pelican Landing and the surrounding area during the day the pool is typically the social hub where connections are made and evenings evolve.

Cards or games at the pool, parties to celebrate our lucky life style, fishing in the nearby creek or ponds, discussions both serious and trivial, laughter of grandchildren as they experience the freedom of grandparent supervision all contribute to an atmosphere that makes it easy to put the mind at ease and the heart at rest.

Pelican Landing is the larger community that we are part of. It’s a home base including several condo communities like ours, a large variety of single homes and several high rise towers (also) on Estero Bay. It’s known for its lush tropical landscaping, numerous amenities, active life style, and convenient to everything location. The golf courses that meander throughout are private and world class. The tennis center is open to all and funded communally. The kayak/canoe amenity accommodates both serious paddle craft aficionados and casual nature lovers. The beach club is private, reachable only by boats that take us from Coconut Point to a tropical island caught between  Estero Bay and the gulf of Mexico. If your thing is riding the water by the wind there’s the sailing amenity which also takes advantage of our water location. As doing all of this requires a certain degree of fitness that is provided for too as part of the community center which houses the hub of our extensive volunteer organizations.  In addition Bocce provides another chance to compete and develop one’s skills.

Of course what’s listed above are only the formal activities for which central facilities and organizations and equipment are required. Many also take advantage of the mild traffic of a gated community to walk, bike, or exercise the dog.

Bonita Springs was for many years a small remote fishing village stuck in the mangroves along the Imperial River between Ft Myers and Naples. It attracted a few tourists but mostly people after the fish of Estero Bay. That was then, this is now.

The transition to a modern life style community has been underway for about 20 years and is now in full bloom. Begun by developers who saw large tracts of empty land it’s now the promised land for retailers, restauranteurs, service industries and everyone involved in building.

Of course all of those new residents need schools and police and fire protection and zoning boards and chambers of commerce so the city has stepped up to the rapid growth and addressed each demand as it’s proliferated.

It’s located in Lee County which also is the home of Ft Myers and Estero, communties to the north of us (in fact some of Pelican Landing is in Estero rather that Bonita Springs)

Here are some LINKS if you’re interested in finding out more about our neighborhood.

Southwest Florida is sometimes called the Sun Coast and is anchored by Naples and Marco Island to the south and Ft Myers and the islands of Pine Island Sound to the north. Ft Myers is the other major city. The south end is Collier County, and the north end is Lee County. For information on S.W. Florida here are some LINKS.

No wonder we like it where we are. There is social interaction of every kind with interesting, involved and friendly people. There is almost continuous great winter weather for people who don’t like winter weather. There is fulfillment available for every material, cultural, and spiritual need. There is a tropical environment that is completely different from what most of us have experienced in the north and countless ways to observe nature for everyone. There are numerous ways to satisfy our common need to be productive. In short, a paradise.
